What We Believe at Horizon City Church

 In Articles

If you’ve recently visited our website or worshiped with us on a Sunday morning—first of all, welcome. Whether you’re new to the area, new to church, or just exploring what it means to follow Jesus, we’re genuinely glad you’re here. At Horizon City Church, we say it often: we exist to make disciples who treasure Christ—and I want to take a moment to unpack what that really means.

In a rapidly growing region like Horizon West, many are searching for more than just another church—they’re looking for depth, community, and clarity. At Horizon City Church, you’ll find all three.

This isn’t just a place to attend on Sundays; it’s a spiritual family where people are invited into a life of treasuring Christ above all else.

Why Beliefs Matter

In our culture, the word “belief” often gets reduced to opinion or preference. But for us, belief is the foundation of everything we do. It shapes our worship, our relationships, our mission, and our hope.

We don’t just want to agree with Christian doctrine—we want to be formed by it. We want the truth of who God is and what He’s done in Christ to fuel our joy, anchor our lives, and ignite our mission.

What We Believe

Here’s a snapshot of what we hold dear:

We believe in a big, beautiful God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—eternally existing and equal in power and glory. God is absolutely sovereign over all things, and this shapes how we pray, live, preach, and trust in His purposes—especially in trials.

We believe the Bible is God’s perfect Word, inspired, sufficient, infallible and authoritative for all of life. We interpret them with care, teach them faithfully, and aim to apply them rightly in everyday life.

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who lived, died, rose, and reigns—our Savior, Redeemer, and coming King. We believe Jesus, fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life, died as our substitute and rose again bodily. He ascended to heaven and will return again to judge the living and the dead and establish His eternal kingdom.

We believe salvation is a gift—Every person is in need of salvation, which is offered by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone—not by works or religious performance.

We believe the Church is God’s plan A for displaying His glory and making disciples. The universal Church is made up of all true believers, and local churches are the primary expression of God’s people, gathering to worship, grow, serve, and multiply.

We believe theology should lead to doxology—sound doctrine should produce deep worship.

Our elders joyfully affirm historic Christian orthodoxy, and we’re aligned with doctrinal statements like the Bethlehem Affirmation of Faith, the Danvers Statement on biblical manhood and womanhood, and the Nashville Statement on human sexuality. These shape our convictions and guide our pastoral care.

What Makes Our Church Culture Unique?

We long to be more than a Sunday service. We want to be a Christ-treasuring family. That means:

  • A joyful community, grounded in the goodness and grandeur of God
  • A growing people, formed by the Word and committed to obedience
  • A welcoming space, where hospitality reflects the heart of Jesus
  • A wise people, living out biblical truth in everyday life
  • A sending church, passionate about planting and partnering globally

We gather every Sunday to worship through Christ-exalting songs, expository preaching, weekly communion, and authentic community. But more than that, we scatter throughout the week to love our neighbors, disciple one another, and live out the gospel in real life.

At the heart of the church’s mission is this conviction:

“God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” – John Piper

That’s why everything Horizon City does—from Sunday worship to weekday community groups—is about helping people discover deep joy in Jesus. Beliefs aren’t just statements on a website; they’re the foundation of a joyful, gospel-shaped life.

Our Rhythm: Gather. Teach. Engage.

At Horizon City Church, we keep it simple but intentional:

1. Gather Often – Sundays, small groups, life together

2. Teach Well – Christ-centered, verse-by-verse preaching

3. Engage Others – Every believer a disciple-maker, wherever God has placed them

These aren’t just habits—they’re how we shape a culture of discipleship.

The result is a church that not only knows truth but lives it out in everyday relationships, in hospitality, and in a multiplying mission to plant more churches.  If you’re reading this and wondering if there’s a place for you here, let me say it plainly: Yes. There is.

You don’t have to have it all together. You don’t need a resume of spiritual achievement. You just need a heart that’s open to discovering the beauty of Jesus. Wherever you are in your story, we’d be honored to walk with you.

Horizon City Church exists to make disciples who treasure Christ above all—through sound doctrine, joyful worship, intentional community, and bold mission. Come discover the joy of a church that’s serious about truth and full of grace.

Join us any Sunday at 10:00 AM in Winter Garden. Or reach out—we’d love to grab coffee and hear more about your story.

Jesus is worthy. Let’s treasure Him together.
